Elf on the shelf
Elf on the Shelf è una tradizione di Natale secondo la quale un aiutante di Babbo Natale viene inviato nella casa dei bambini dal Polo Nord per incoraggiarli a fare i bravi per il periodo che precede il Natale.
L’elfo – sistemato in un punto privilegiato della casa– tiene d’occhio il comportamento dei bambini durante il giorno per poi tornare ogni notte al Polo Nord per fare rapporto a Babbo Natale e dirgli se i bambini sono stati buoni o cattivi.
Questa tradizione ha due regole fondamentali: la prima è che ai bambini non è permesso toccare l’Elfo oppure quest’ultimo perderà la sua magia. Se per caso l’Elfo dovesse essere toccato per sbaglio il sito ufficiale ElfOnTheShelf.com – ebbene si, esiste anche un sito ufficiale per questo fenomeno natalizio – raccomanda di scrivere una lettera di scuse a Babbo Natale e di spargere un pizzico di cannella a fianco dell’Elfo prima di andare a dormire.
La cannella è come le vitamine per gli apprendisti elfi, e li aiuta ad avere l’energia per tornare al Polo Nord”.
Questa è la lettera che gli studenti delle classi 2^ABC della scuola secondaria di Bolgare hanno ricevuto il 1^ dicembre 2023:
Hello students,
I'm so excited to meet you! Your English teacher, Mrs Arcangeli, has been telling me all about you.
You have probably guessed from my clothing that I'm an elf. I work for Santa Claus in the North Pole.
Every December, Santa sends all his elves off to carry out a very special job (I also think that he quite enjoys having a break from us all as we can be rather cheeky!).
Our job is to watch to make sure that you're all working hard and being good for school.
Over the next few weeks, I'll be paying close attention to all the fantastic work that you do and the kindness that you show to your friends and teachers. When it's home time, I will fly back to Santa and let him know what you've all been up to before flying back to Bolgare before sunrise.
I should warn you that we elves are quite mischievous and get bored very easily. We can get up to all sorts of mischief when we think that no one is looking. Don't expect to find me in the same place every day. I also enjoy sweet treats so you might want to hide them away somewhere safe! I already have my eye on you.
I can't wait to spend time here getting to know you all.
